One of the world’s famous Blue Zones has a deep influence on a new range of salads by Kitchenhand.
The Body salads are part of Kitchenhand ‘s wellness philosophy that draws on its family’s origins in Greece.
Kitchenhand’s owner, Tina Germanos and her late mother Irini, have ancestry from the Greek island of Ikaria – one of the world’s famous five Blue Zones where people are among the most long-lived and healthiest in the world.
Tina Germanos has brought a modern twist to the Ikarian healthy Mediterranean diet traditions with her 13 Body salads under 3 sub-ranges: Body Wellness, Body Restore and Body Cleanse.
Developed with nutritionist/naturopath, Tracey Cook MHSc Herbal Med (UNE), ND, the salads have been designed to restore, cleanse and revive the body after physical activity.
Kitchenhand’s exotic approach adds to the core Blue Zone elements. It uses ingredients such as teff grain, flax and chia seed and dressings from Japan (another country with a Blue Zone) rainforest limes, Goji berries and the rare Australian Illawarra plum with anti-oxidant benefits seven times that of blueberries.
There are vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options in this range and Kitchenhand foods have no added sugar or sugar substitutes.
